Unit Definition (bale [UK]) The bale [UK] is a commercial unit of weight for shipments of cotton. The British used the Egyptian bale, formerly equal to 750 pounds (340.19 kg) but now equal to 720 pounds (326.59 kg). Other countries use a variety of cotton bale weights.
